What is a Designated Doctor?
A Designated Doctor is a licensed physician authorized to perform independent medical evaluations as required by state and federal regulations. These evaluations play a critical role in ensuring accurate medical decisions and care for patients.
Become a Designated Doctor
Becoming a Designated Doctor offers you the opportunity to contribute to the medical community while expanding your professional practice. At United Medical Exams, we provide the tools, support, and training necessary for your success.
You must take the required training, pass the required test (on 5/13/13 or after), and apply. Renewal requires attending required training and reapplying every two years. Contact us to request information about the next available training course.
Once approved by the Texas Division of Workers Compensation, you are placed on the Designated Doctor List, and medical examinations are assigned on a scheduling rotation for each registered county. Our administrative staff will assist you in following the proper procedures for Designated Doctor Evaluations.
